White, dark or milk, everybody has their favourite chocolate, but we all love it!
However, for some people, like chocolatier Valter Bovetti, it's much more than just chocolate. For him, chocolate is more than a flavour, it's almost an art; a passion he likes to share. He has created a fascinating museum to discover the world of chocolate and cocoa, a visit to which has to end up with a tasting…
The history of this museum is, first of all, the story of a man whose job is dedicated to his passion : chocolate! From his Italian origins, to his arrival in the Dordogne via Venezuela, he has always been devoted to the cocoa products.
Bovetti is not only a chocolate factory that produces excellent chocolates in their classical form, but also much more original products, such as rosemary or coriander chocolate balls, used for an aperitif or to wonderfully accompany warm dishes.
While developing his chocolate factory, Valter Bovetti and his wife decided to share their passion with their visitors by opening a museum where you can discover the A to Z of chocolate, right from the initial cocoa bean, all the way through the various stages of manufacture.
If, in the beginning, the museum was very "non-professional", they took advantage of the expansion of the chocolate factory for a facelift in early 2010.
It is now a museum that welcomes you with videos and artifacts telling you the story and the life of chocolate, as well as offering you the possibility to see the entire factory team at work. You can even see the cocoa trees growing in a greenhouse.
The tour will entertain the whole family, especially the younger ones who can make their own chocolate character before tasting the different sorts of cocoa, as well as some specialties of the factory.
The tour ends, of course, by a visit to the shop, where you will need a lot of will power to stop yourself from buying everything.
Although, why not buy some?
As explained to you during your visit, chocolate is actually good for your health!
